The Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) is a set of 10 specific measures (metrics) which enables NHS organisations to compare the workplace and career experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff.
This information is then used to develop local action plans, and demonstrate progress against these indicators of disability equality.
The WDES enables organisations to better understand the experiences of disabled staff. It will support positive change for existing employees, and enable a more inclusive environment for disabled people working in the NHS.
NHS Birmingham and Solihull has published its annual results of its WDES and associated action plan. More information about the WDES can be found on the NHS England website.
