Leaders from NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System will be among the keynote speakers taking part in the NHS ConfedExpo 2024 in Manchester in June.
Running for two days over 12 and 13 June, the conference is set to be one of the largest and most significant health and care conferences in the UK, attracting over 5,400 delegates across two days.
The event, which NHS Confederation and NHS England deliver in partnership, will bring together health and care leaders and their teams. Delegates will have the opportunity to network with leaders and managers with the ability to lead and drive change in health and social care, as well as attend a plethora of theatre sessions and learning theatres. Across two days, NHS ConfedExpo aims to share learning and best practice, encourage innovation, and provide valuable networking opportunities.
In a session on 13 June exploring life beyond the COVID-19 urgent appeal and how NHS charities can enhance NHS Trust provider policies, Richard Kirby, CEO at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will be a keynote speaker alongside Dame Ruth May DBE, Chief Nursing Officer at NHS England; Barbara Kasumu, Executive Director of Charities at Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation; and Ellie Orton OBE, Chief Executive at NHS Charities Together.
Ikhlaq Hussain, Specialist Pharmacist Respiratory Diagnostic Hub Project Lead and West Birmingham Clinical Locality Lead for NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB, will be joining a host of leaders taking part in a discursive workshop on 12 June on how primary care pathways can be redesigned around patients to improve access, support integration and help achieve innovation.
Also on 12 June, Adam Khimji, Deputy Chief Pharmacist at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, will be among the speakers discussing the unnecessary variation in medicine labelling and the resultant risk of medication errors.
Meanwhile, also on 12 June, Dr Balraj Mavi, West Birmingham Diabetes Lead, will take part in a session will laying out the close connection between cardiovascular disease and health inequalities and exploring how to maximise impact through existing opportunities to reduce health inequalities via funding, resources and the Core20PLUS5 framework.
